Kiting above the Great Highway near Sutro Heights and Ocean Beach.

Hunting until the last available light often means eating in the dark.

Streetlights make good dining tables - although they do leave the hawks exposed. I've found that they stay very alert while eating in these open situations - and they tend to eat more quickly too.

Swooping up to scan the park from a streetlight. Alta Plaza Park's terraced edges make it easy to scan an entire hillside from a low vantage point.

Departing from a fence near Woodbridge Road. Across the street were Sandhill Cranes and Tundra Swans.

As sun sets this hawk relaxes with an outstretched leg.
