Commuting to Work

Moments from my 15 minute commute to work... which ends up taking 40 minutes.

A Red-shouldered Hawk stretches in the morning light. The pair have a new nest in the Presidio after the old one was blown down during one of our fiercer winter storms. Luckily it is in prime viewing distance from the road and while driving I saw tail feathers sticking over the side. Little red-shoulders are on the way!

A Gull with a distinctive bathing routine stood out from the rest and I took this image of its oddly staccato and jumpy technique.
