A Great Horned Owl at Rodeo Lagoon swooping up into a tree demonstrates extraordinary camouflage. Flying in front of this rock wall when the light is fading, they are nearly invisible.

The Alta Plaza Odd Couple. They have stayed together, courted, gathered nest materials, but seem to be playing at being a couple since he (right) is a second-year bird, and she is likely a third-year. No nest or young ever materialized. Nonetheless they are rarely far from one another.

He too joins in the chorus filling the skies above the playground. As night fell they wandered off to hunt separately. The female would have better luck, missing one opportunity only to turn away and spot another gopher unaware of her sudden appearance.
