Doves, Finches, and Mad Hawks

Red-shouldered Hawks in the Presidio let me know I was close to a nest by acting like Goshawks and dive-bombing me... so I retreated to photograph the doves and finches that hovered in the periphery of the nest site.

One vocal pass overhead followed by...

Attack!

This is the last photo I took before ducking and leaving them in peace. At least now I know where the nest is.

Navigating the high winds.

A pair of Mourning Doves make their way back to the powerlines.

They preened calmly while Red-tailed hawks kited above.

Just a nice in flight moment.

Finch in flight.

Uneasy partners on the line.

Still vying for position.

Waving goodbye. I'm off to Bologna, Italy for a week. More BIRDLIGHTWIND after the break.
