Sutro in Sun and PFA

A visit to Sutro Heights during sunset found the young hawks exploring in the treetops. At the PFA lagoon the next day, the Red-shoulder payed a visit and an Egret fiddled with sticks.

The Great Egret gathering sticks at the PFA lagoon and flying away to the north. It seemed to spend a long time finding just the right one.

The resident Red-shoulder flies of after visiting a sunny spot where it had recently killed a pigeon.

One of the three Great Blues sitting calmly and soaking in the sun between preening sessions.

A Mallard digs his wings into water to begin takeoff.

The previous day at Sutro Heights, one of the young hawks enters a tree gilded by the setting sun.

The other young hawk decides to leave his treetop haven and take a circuit around the park.

Preparing to fly, the youngsters go through a long routine of stretches after a day of lazing about and being fed by their parents.

Meanwhile the adult female deals with the ever-present contingent of ravens.
