ELEMENTAL... WATER This fountain uses gravity to draw water into a slowly rotating pool. The resulting sense of time is geologic. Records are played at just a few revolutions a minute and take on entirely new characteristics. One reason I build these is to instill a different sense of time, the natural sense of time that we often suppress in trying to keep up with the socially/culturally accelerated rhythms we contend with on a day to day basis.  |
