PHONOKOTO The Phonokoto was completed in March of 2002 - the 3rd harp to be built. Inspired by a Japanese court instrument but with clear african influences, this instrument is played with the fingers and hand carved mallets. It is inherently percussive and offers a wide range of melodic possibilities. The strings can be stretched by pressing down on them behind the 14 pyramidal sliding bridges. CLICK TO HEAR A SAMPLE   |
