MELODIC RHYTHM TURNTABLE

This Phonoharp was completed in August of 2003 - the 8th harp. It is based on the concept of a music box. As the record plays, the cylinder (programmed with small tines) plucks wooden hammers which respond by striking strings on the resonant body of the instrument. Using records with circular instead of spiral grooves, allows the melody to stay in time with the rhythm on the record. The cylinders can be easily reprogrammed to play different melodies and chords.
