KALIMBA KOTO PHONOHARP

The Kalimba Koto Harp was completed in October of 2003 - the 9th harp. It was built to explore a variety of ideas. It has a built in DJ mixer, speaker, and a variety of inputs and outputs so that it can accommodate the addition of more instruments or be wired to create extended subtle feedback loops that wind their way out of control after 5 minutes or so. The vibrations from the kalimba and the strings are picked up by the needle and sent through the speaker, where they in turn influence the strings and kalimba again. The bridges are made from bamboo.
